Event & Exhibition Design

The first hand experience of live events has an immediate and compelling effect on the audience. It also allows different technologies and ways of working to create original, engaging and memorable encounters.

Experience in the creation of high profile shows, destinations and events for a variety of clients has become a major part of my design profession.

Case Studies

Louis Vuitton 150th

Inside Out’s production of this touring international event allowed for the design of finely mechanized staging to accompany the live and projected show elements, all housed in a massive purpose built and re-locatable venue.

The Holy Sinner

Preformed in the Saint James Theatre as a highlight of the 2005 Wellington Arts Festival the Inside Out Production of Thomas Mann’s ‘The Holy Sinner’ called for a fusion of medieval, industrial and strongly physical design.

Expo 1990 NZ Pavilion, Sevilla, Spain

The New Zealand pavilion for the World Expo in Sevilla, Spain, was an opportunity to engage with an international community of designers on a project of huge scale.

NZ Theme Park Proposals Japan

As associate designer for Logan Brewer Production Design, the concept, illustration, model making and display of this pitch to a Japanese client was an interesting foray into theme park design.

Commonwealth Games 89

Broadcast around the world to a billion viewers in 151 countries the staging of these events as Production Designer was a great honor. My design for the Royal Relay Baton was chosen and a limited edition were made for visiting dignitaries.

International Rugby Hall of Fame

Following the example of other ‘Halls of Fame’ this design project encompassed 6 floors of down town office space for what was to be a permanent centre for world rugby culture.
